Greenwich Academy seeks a dynamic and nurturing individual to teach second grade. Applicants should be current in their understanding of elementary curriculum and best practices in the classroom. They should be committed to academic excellence and should possess a thorough understanding of child development and how young children learn. Candidates should also have experience in incorporating multi-sensory techniques in the classroom and should possess a strong background in literacy.
The successful candidate will be a strong team player and eager to take initiative as part of a four-person team. Excellent reading, writing, and speaking skills are required. In addition to teaching responsibilities, teachers in the Lower School at Greenwich Academy serve as mentors to associate teachers, so prior mentoring experience is desirable. Applicants should be enthusiastic learners themselves and should be eager to teach and learn in an environment dedicated to thoughtful, ongoing diversity work. Some teaching experience is required, as is a master’s degree in a related field. Above all, candidates should demonstrate a deep commitment to working with elementary-aged children.
