Wooster School is currently seeking a full-time College Guidance counselor. This innovative and highly energetic individual will work within all aspects of the College Guidance Office and ensure a comprehensive college guidance process for grades 8 through 12.
Manage a caseload of juniors and seniors to provide individualized, deliberate and comprehensive support. focused on helping students enroll in a great fit college.
Coordinate testing including PSAT for students in grades 9 - 11 as well as SAT and ACT testing for students with accommodations.
Coordinate and team-teach the College Guidance Seminar course.
Prepare extensive summary reports analyzing college admissions results for Wooster students.
Write and coordinate student profile/recommendation for each senior applying to college.
Establish and maintain lines of communication with national and international colleges and universities.
Travel to national and regional conferences and visit colleges in order to stay current in the field.
Candidate should have a/an:
Thorough understanding of selective college admissions processes and trends as they relate to financial aid, the visual and performing arts, and athletics.
Ability to connect with students, parents, colleagues, and college admissions officers.
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both written and oral.
Candidate should have at least a/an:
Minimum two years experience as a college counselor and/or a college admissions officer.
Experience managing others in an educational setting preferred.
