Summary: Pacific Ridge School seeks candidates for the position of Varsity Head Coach for Upper School and Middle School Girls Volleyball. This appointment will be effective August 1, 2019. In support of Pacific Ridge’s mission, the Varsity Head Coach for US and MS Girls Volleyball will coach, lead, and champion the girls’ middle school and upper school volleyball programs in the fall. Our upper school court program has three teams (Varsity, JV and Frosh), and our middle school court program has 5 teams (A, B, white, blue, and silver). We are a no-cut school; although student-athletes are cut from teams, they are never cut from programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Coach and oversee upper and middle school girls’ court volleyball (fall season). • Teach volleyball players the skills, techniques, rules, regulations, and team policies of volleyball and ensure compliance of rules and regulations. • Plan, direct, and administer policies, practices and game-day management. • Be responsible for the general health and welfare of student-athletes and give appropriate attention to students-athletes who are injured and or ill. This includes filling out injury report forms. • Cooperate with the school Nurse and Athletic Trainer to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services. • Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities. • Be responsible for the actions and conduct of the team whenever they are under your supervision. • Work with the Director of Athletics on the selection and scheduling of team contests. • Work within budgetary guidelines established by the Finance department and the Director of • Athletics. • Coordinate all activities in preparation for scheduled competition. (Set-up and break down of court and or field). • Attend all team practices and home and away contests. • Monitor student-athlete academic performance. • Attend appropriate athletic departmental staff meetings. • Assist the Director of Athletics in any activities and school events as needed.
Qualifications include but are not limited to: Pacific Ridge seeks to hire someone who takes initiative and responsibility for developing, nurturing, and growing our girls volleyball program. A strong candidate will be extremely organized and will have the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. Additionally, they should be prepared to work on a high performing team and have demonstrated the ability to maintain a positive attitude in all situations. S/he should also be able to communicate effectively with all school constituents and display strong, positive interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher, will have coached girls’ volleyball for at least 3 years, and should have 3-5 years of head coaching experience.
General Schedule: for court volleyball in the fall, Monday- Friday 9:15 – 11:00AM and 3:00 – 5:30 PM (and some weekends).
