The John Thomas Dye School, an independent K-6 school located in Los Angeles, is currently seeking a full-time Technology Teacher for Grades K-6. The John Thomas Dye School provides for its students a program of academic excellence, one both traditional and dynamic, with a commitment to family and community. The experienced Technology Teacher will support and implement curriculum planning and technology instruction for all students which meet the objectives of the School’s Mission Statement. The Technology Teacher will oversee the needs of students to provide an optimal learning environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide instruction in the areas of:
Coding
Design practices
Digital Citizenship
Essential Computer Skills
Engineering
Google Suite
Robotics
Develop and enhance programs that teach students how to be thoughtful and deliberate about the role digital technology and social media play in their lives
Inspire a culture of innovation to meet the evolving needs of today’s learners
Lead the continued development of the technology curriculum using ISTE standards for grades K-6
Build strong partnerships with faculty and support them as they develop innovative approaches and integrate technology to enhance student learning
Serve as a thought leader and strategic partner to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction on all uses of technology in the operations and educational mission of the school, especially related to STEM programs
Actively participate in local, regional, and national professional communities, technology conferences, and educational opportunities to stay knowledgeable about new ideas and trends
Seek knowledge of current instructional theories and best practices and demonstrate a commitment to professional growth by participating in professional development opportunities
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:
Model professional and ethical standards and 5C’s behavior (Caring, Consideration, Common Sense, Cooperation, and Courtesy) when interacting with students, parents, and colleagues
Work collaboratively with other teachers, administration, and staff
Attend all curricular and faculty meetings
Participate in parent-teacher conferences, parent nights, spotlight events, admissions events, and other events outside contractual hours at the request of the administration
Participate in the overall care of students through duties such as morning carpool check-in, recess supervision, lunch duty, and afternoon checkout
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Upper & Lower School Heads, or Head of School

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in content area, education, or related field
A Master’s Degree or Teaching Credential is preferred
Minimum of two years of teaching experience in Grades K-6
Strong understanding of independent school methods and ability to effectively integrate best practices
Strong understanding of academic, social, and emotional development of children
Technical knowledge of networks, computers, operating systems
Experience working with database and information systems
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Strong organization and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
