About This Role
HTS has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Head to join our team in the summer of 2019. We are looking for a leader who’s vision for learning is to make learning personal, joyful and irresistible for all learners, young and adult alike.
Reporting directly to the Head of School, this is an outstanding opportunity to lead HTS to new levels of excellence. The first priority of the person appointed to this key position will be to lead the academic and student life of this dynamic and leading edge school, but the post will also involve much wider administrative responsibilities. This individual will play a key role in the strategic direction of HTS, and have various leadership and operational responsibilities within the School.
The Deputy Head will come with excellent academic credentials including a Master’s degree in Education, OCT certification and completion of the Principal Qualification Program would be considered an asset. They will have a strong record in staff and student relationships, the successful candidate will be very familiar with the Ontario curriculum and inspection/accreditation processes, as well as with current developments in competency-based education, personalization of curriculum and assessment and evaluation and be rooted as a lead learner in constructivist pedagogy. He or she will also be entirely comfortable with technology integration and its application in enhancing student and adult learning. Additionally, the candidate requires a strong understanding of educational law, Ministry policies and mentoring staff through professional expectations and dilemmas.
The candidate will be a vibrant and committed individual, keen to collaborate with a talented and dedicated staff and builds excellent relationships with all stakeholders in an educational setting. Well developed leadership and management skills and the ability to bring an innovative perspective to the school’s strategic aspirations will be important in this role.
