Charlotte Latin School is seeking a part-time Nest Assistant Teacher beginning August 2019. The Nest Assistant Teacher offers support to the lead teacher and classroom as a whole by following a high quality curriculum that is child-centered, developmentally appropriate, and process oriented. The Assistant Teacher and Lead Teacher manage the classroom effectively with compassion, high energy, attention to detail, organization, problem solving strategies and play.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Meet the individual needs of the children.
Interact with children to support learning through play to help children develop connections, lead symbolic thinking, critical problem solving, and a positive self- concept.
Present expectations that are appropriate to the child's age and developmental level.
Implement activities that support foundations in math, literacy, science, creative art, fine and gross motor skills, music and movement and dramatic play.
Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff.
Use assessment tools
Participate in staff and training meetings.
Complete annual required training hours as prescribed by the NC Division of Child Development.
Complies with company policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as needed.
This is a 10 month, non-exempt, part-time position. Work hours are 12pm-5:45pm Monday-Friday.
Education and Experience
An Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Child Development or a related field is preferred.
Two years of teaching experience
State and Federal Background checks are required at time of hire and every three years.
Annual Health Questionnaire (required by NC DCD).
SIDS training (Infant Teacher) upon hire and every three years.
Education documentation submitted to the NC Division of Child Development.
Possess a natural ability to engage and support young learners.
Strong classroom management skills.
Proven interpersonal relations skills.
Excellent oral and written communication. Communicates clearly and effectively with parents and one another.
Exceptional organizational skills.
A propensity for working collaboratively with faculty and families.
Adheres to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity and maturity.
