As a member of the BCD Development team, the Development Assistant supports all initiatives relating to our philanthropic goals, offering support to the Development Office in all fundraising efforts. The successful candidate must be an independently motivated, goal-oriented, strategic thinker who can execute among multiple priorities and succeed in a dynamic, team oriented, results-driven environment.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Assistant is responsible for the following:
Database, Reporting, & Tracking
Manage daily administrative duties and data support for the Development Office including gift and pledge processing, tracking, acknowledgment, reporting, research, stewardship, prospect management, and events
Oversees Raiser’s Edge database implementation and manages database on an ongoing basis
Act as the school liaison to external development databases for events and matching gifts as well as work across BCD to ensure data integrity
Annually draft all gift acknowledgement templates, manage proofing and approval process ensuring accuracy and authenticity, as well as ensure the appropriate structure across all levels of school responsibility
Develop and provide regular reporting pertaining to prospect portfolio management
Work with gift officers to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of prospect records to reflect movement of prospects through stages of cultivation and systematic tracking of anticipated philanthropic gifts
Conduct prospect research and prepare briefings for donor meetings and strategy sessions
Act as project manager for all Development Office events managing schedule, action items, and reporting responsibilities
For the annual Gala, hold responsibility for procurement process, all auction donation entries into Greater Giving program, development of the Gala catalog and signage, provide administrative support for the committee, and other administrative duties as assigned
Aid with set up and execution of events
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development or the Interim Director of Development.

Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Prior Development experience
Strong proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or comparable CRM
Strong proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Excel
Demonstrated ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to maintain a computer recordkeeping system, conduct and manage data input with a high degree of accuracy, analyze data to inform management decisions, and provide timely and useful reports
Demonstrated proficiency in writing and editing letters and proposals
Demonstrated proficiency in drafting and preparing professional correspondence
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills, including high level of comfort while working with donors, volunteers, trustees, and other community members.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and see tasks through completion in a fast-paced, sometimes loud and open office environment
Ability to handle challenging situations diplomatically and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, senior-level executives, and trustee-level volunteer leaders
High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information and maintaining integrity of data and reports
Track record of demonstrating initiative, innovation and flexibility
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings as needed
