North Country School seeks a Learning Skills Coach to join the Learning Skills Program. Ideally, this candidate is trained in Wilson Reading System and/or Orton-Gillingham Method, and has experience with supporting executive function challenges. Learning Skills Coaches report to the Dean of Faculty and partner closely with the Program Leadership Team in matters related to academic aspects of the school. For students enrolled in the Learning Skills program, the Learning Skills Coach assures weekly communication with parents about their child’s program and progress.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach/coach 15 periods per week
Support the placement process for students into the Learning Skills Program
Support our Admissions Department: meet with families during visits, review files, interpret educational testing reports,
Collaborate with the Dean of Faculty around matters of general course placement for students in the Learning Skills Program
Maintain Learning Skills files for all students enrolled in the program and/or for those who have formal educational testing documents
Create and maintain NCS Learning Profiles for each student enrolled in the program, to be shared with parents and faculty
Assure regular communication with parents
Participate in grade level team meetings on a regular basis
Support and mentor faculty: facilitate trainings and in-service workshops; act as a resource for tactics and strategies; maintain and share student learning profiles
Represent NCS and collaborate with the local public school system and families to create or maintain IEP/504 plans as needed
Advise 9th grade secondary school placement - particularly concerning students in the Learning Skills Program
Support study hall program and proctor 2 evenings per week
Act as Advisor to 2-3 students
Work 15 weekend days a year
