The Middle and Upper School Principal is responsible for the management of the educational program for approximately 400 students in grades 6 to 12 consistent with Baldwin School’s mission and vision and the International Baccalaureate Program.
Master's Degree in educational leadership or related field.
Substantial prior experience as a Principal or Lead Teacher and a proven track record of achievement in senior leadership positions in educational institutions.
Substantial experience working in an International school environment in a multi-lingual, multicultural setting. Preferably three to five years of experience in a Middle/Upper School setting.
Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish with proficiency and excellent communications skills in English and a intermediate/advanced proficiency in Spanish.
Computer literate on MS Office programs and Internet and Database applications.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Excellent writing, public-speaking, analytical and problem?solving skills.
High degree of cultural sensitivity, flexibility and resourcefulness relevant in the context of a culturally diverse school.
Ability to work collaboratively with peers towards the achievement of common goals.
Must be able to ensure the confidentiality of information available through daily operations.
Key Competencies include: communication skills, planning, organizing, problem-solving skills, good judgment, patience and stress tolerance, adaptability and flexibility, honesty, integrity, and sense of humor.
Oversee the academic, extracurricular, athletic, disciplinary and counseling areas of the Middle/Upper School.
Lead decision-making around curriculum, teaching and learning, grading and reporting, student-life (discipline, extra-curricular activities, socio-emotional well-being), staffing, school calendar, schedule, and room allocations.
Supervise, support, develop and evaluate Middle/Upper School faculty to deliver inquiry-based, student-centered learning experiences for students in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program and Diploma Program.
Collaborate with and supervise the IB MYP and DP Coordinators to optimize the International Baccalaureate MYP and DP programs.
Supervise, support, develop, and evaluate administrative staff to provide an efficient, organized and supportive school environment.
Manage the Middle/Upper School budget and authorize expenses.
Promote and sustain a nurturing and collaborative school culture.
Promote passion and a drive for excellence at all levels.
