St. George’s School, an independent coeducational boarding school of 364 students, seeks an experienced professional to serve as the school’s Assistant Director of The St. George’s Fund. Reporting directly to the Director of the St. George’s Fund, the Assistant Director works with colleagues in advancement services, major gifts, planned giving, stewardship, and communications. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in securing SG Fund support from alumni, parents, and friends of St. George’s.
Assist the Director of the SG Fund in assigned aspects of planning and executing the SG Fund program including recruiting, training and supporting SG Fund volunteers;
Responsible for organizing and building Reunion Giving program each fall to recruit committees, set fundraising and participation goals, meet with committee members;
Work closely with the Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement on logistics of Reunion Weekend and other Reunion related events throughout the year;
Recruit, train and manage class agents representing assigned classes and support these volunteers through accurate and timely communications and reporting;
Coordinate and implement, with the assistance of the Director, an annual fundraising plan for each assigned class with a special emphasis on reunion classes;
Assist with donor retention programming and planning, along with the Advancement Communications and Retention Specialist to increase donors and dollars for the SG Fund;
Cultivate, solicit and steward a small portfolio of mid to high-level annual giving donors. Assist in the identification and cultivation of potential major gift donors.
Travel to meet individually with 50-60 constituents per year for the purposes of engagement, qualification, volunteer management, and stewardship.
Assist with managing all SG Fund related events, including Family Weekend, Reunion Weekend, SG Fund Annual Day of Giving, and other parent and alumni events and activities;
Additional duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Two to three years of fundraising or other relatable experience, preferably in an independent school environment
Impressive communications and strategic skills;
Knowledge about the use of digital approaches and technologies in support of solicitation and stewardship programs.
Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently;
Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job;
Superlative interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization. Strong personal integrity and work ethic, as well as a sense of humor and perspective.
Must possess good judgement, tact, sensitivity, and discretion in the handling of confidential information, materials and situations.
The working environment is an office and school environment on a beautiful campus in Middletown, Rhode Island. The abilities to occasionally lift files and boxes, walk up and down stairs, attend meetings in varying locations throughout campus, and continually use computers and related office equipment are required. Not all buildings on campus have elevators.
