Annie Wright is seeking a Library & Media Specialist to begin on August 19, 2019. This is a full time faculty position.

Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
The Library & Media Specialist:
manages all aspects of the School’s Learning Commons in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the International Baccalaureate framework;
identifies and implements best practices in library, archival, and information technology, and maintains resources to support library programs, a rigorous academic program, and a globally minded and diverse school community; develops and implements a collection development plan, catalogues and processes all materials and inventories, and maintains the Learning Commons space; ensures that the Learning Commons and its resources support the implementation of the Schools’ IB programs; manages the Learning Commons budget; and supervises staff and volunteers working in the Learning Commons;
provides guidance to students and faculty in information retrieval, effective evaluation of information, and ethical use of materials; collaborates with colleagues to identify resources, support students, and develop instruction and curriculum and with IB Coordinators to ensure resources to support IB programming; and works closely with the Educational Technology Director to identify and integrate up-to-date information and educational technology resources;
in the first year, collaborates with faculty, administrators, and IB Coordinators in the Middle and Upper Schools to design, develop, and implement a library program that enhances the academic program, supports student inquiry, and promotes the development of research skills in students;
collaborates with Lower and Middle School faculty to support the development of library, literacy, and research skills and coordinates the IB Extended Essay for students in the Upper Schools;
and fulfills other duties as assigned.
The Library & Media Specialist:
holds an MA in Library sciences, education, or a related field and has experience working in an independent school and/or in a library that supports an interdivisional school;
demonstrates expert research skills, awareness of trends and best practices in library sciences, and the ability to design and implement an innovative and mission-appropriate Library program; possesses excellent communication and organizational skills; and exhibits an understanding of how students can and do use library and information resources;
demonstrates proficiency in relevant technological resources, flexibility, approachability, a good sense of humor, and enthusiasm for working with students at multiple grade levels.
