Athletics plays a central role in the life of the Lawrenceville School, providing experiences that provide crucial learning for and help shape the character of our students. The Lawrenceville School seeks an experienced and ambitious coach to lead its Boys Lacrosse Program, one of the School’s signature and most successful athletic programs. The Head Coach will be responsible for the management of the entire Boys Lacrosse athletic curriculum and program development.
Typical responsibilities include the following:
Plan and supervise daily practices, review film, develop game strategy, and lead the coaching staff at athletic contests.
Create a positive team culture and experience for all players, assuring that competitive excellence goes hand in hand with strong character formation and good citizenship.
Identify and develop talented players.
Lead and coordinate the Boys Lacrosse athletic program, including supervising assistant coaches, coordinating efforts with the sub-varsity teams, and assisting with the School’s admissions and college placement efforts.
Develop and maintain relationships within the Lacrosse community, including attending professional conferences, institutional meetings, tournaments, etc.
Commitment to professional growth, including staying current in strategies and techniques in coaching Boys Lacrosse.

The strongest applicants will have the following qualifications:
At least 5 years’ experience successful coaching in a high school, college, club, or professional setting.
Ability to motivate and inspire high school Lacrosse players.
Ability to communicate effectively with groups and/or individuals, and deal with peers, the public, students, and parents in a positive and professional manner.
College, US National, and/or International playing experience.
Ability to review, understand, apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences, and/or professional literature.
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Note about full-time vs. part-time:
We are open to applicants for a full-time faculty position who would coach as part of their total responsibilities, as well as for a part-time, coaching-only position. Currently, we have or anticipate openings in Religion and Philosophy and in Admissions, but other openings are possible. Applicants who wish to be considered for full-time positions should submit a resume that details their academic credentials and professional experience.
Work Environment Characteristics and Physical Demands
Able to lift up to 50lbs including coaching equipment.
Must be able to climb stairs.
Some of the work will be performed in different weather conditions.
Ability to work a Monday-Saturday practice/game schedule. Position may also include travel and Sundays.
