The Gunnery is at a point of transition in our Arts programming. With the opening of the new Arts and Community Center, we are faced with a situation in which our arts resources outpace our desires for perhaps the first time in the school’s history. How can we leverage the Arts at The Gunnery for the good of the whole community and in a way that is both distinctive to our school and also responsive to the desires and capacities of our greater community of families and neighbors? How can we utilize these resources in the context of a 24/7 learning community? How can we invite our neighbors to our campus through this resource 12 months out of the year?
The hope for the Arts at The Gunnery is to see growth first in quality, integration, intentionality, and "mission-connectedness," and then, if and as appropriate, growth in scope of offerings, graduation requirements, etc. Championing this growth in a collaborative, collegial spirit will require dedicated leadership. The position of Director of the Arts at The Gunnery will be a full-time, full-year appointment to lead the program in its entirety, leveraging the Arts for the good of the school community as a whole, and bridging relationships in Washington, CT and beyond through the Arts.
Interested candidates should submit application materials, in confidence, via mail
or via PDF in email by March 15, 2019 to:
