Fort Worth Country Day is seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic professional with expertise in college counseling and/or selective college admission to join its experienced College Counseling team on August 1, 2019. Reporting to the Director of College Counseling, the Associate Director of College Counseling shares responsibility for the college research, application, selection and matriculation process for approximately 100 seniors annually.
The FWCD College Counseling Office consists of the Director, the Associate Director and the College Counseling Assistant. The Associate Director’s employment agreement is for twelve months, but the college counselors typically spend June and July visiting college campuses, engaging in professional development and working from home.

Responsibilities included, but not limited to:
In conjunction with the Director of College Counseling, manage a comprehensive Upper School College Counseling program which includes the teaching of a Junior College Counseling Class, and the offering of student- and parent-specific programming throughout Grades 9-12
Writing compelling recommendation letters for approximately 50 students each year
Visit colleges and attend professional conferences
Perform other functions as assigned in support of school operations
The ideal candidate will also have:
Excellent counseling, listening, organizational and writing skills
The ability to work effectively with students, parents and faculty
A background that includes public speaking
Familiarity with related technology
A willingness to be immersed in the FWCD community
An easy-going personality coupled with a steadfast work ethic
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
Must have professional experience in the college admission field
Three to five years’ experience, ideally in college counseling at an independent school and/or in admission at a selective college or university
