This is a full-time position in the Upper School teaching chemistry and another core science, likely physics. A successful candidate will teach four sections of science which may involve up to three preps and include teaching semester-long electives. As a full-time faculty member, this position also includes serving as an advisor for 8-10 students and supporting a co-curricular activity such as coaching a sport or advising a major school activity. Support of activities that contribute to the life of the school and attendance at all-school faculty meetings, events, back to school nights, department and divisional meetings is expected of all faculty.
An undergraduate degree in chemistry or physics is required, a graduate degree in science education is preferred. We are especially interested in candidates with experience in project-based teaching and learning, science research programs and capacity and interest in building connections for our students with local institutions. Successful high school teaching experience of at least three to five years is desired. Experience in independent schools with students in this age group is also important.
