Garrison Forest School is seeking an experienced, creative and dynamic individual for a full-time position in our Preschool and Lower School teaching Spanish commencing August 2019. The candidate will be joining a community of collegial faculty members working together to build a hands-on, relevant curriculum that delivers “knowledge that sticks”. Ideal candidates will be interested in preparing our students to live and work in a global and multicultural society.
Duties and Responsibilities: Garrison Forest Lower School seeks a full-time Spanish teacher who can support and promote the mission and philosophy of the School. Duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Teach multiple grades in the Lower Division (PreK-5th)
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter with an emphasis on speaking, reading, and writing in the target language
Create vertically aligned curriculum maps for K-5, utilizing ACTFL guidelines
Evaluate, promote and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning
Develop lessons to differentiate for different learning styles
Work alongside the Lower Division Administrative team to build a meaningful learning experience for students
Work alongside grade level teams to build cross-curricular connections and interdisciplinary projects
Create a secure and stimulating environment in which students grow in both autonomy and the ability to work and interact together
Contribute to the life of the School by chaperoning one-weekend activity for the Residential Life program. (Additional opportunities are available as a coach or faculty advisor to co-curricular activities)
Take responsibility for being a role model by maintaining an environment that fosters respect among students and colleagues

B.A. degree or equivalent – Master’s degree desirable
Spanish language fluency ( knowledge of French is a plus)
Prior experience working with children in a school
