Worcester Preparatory School seeks an experienced and dynamic elementary school teacher with a passion for teaching young children to serve as a full-time Fourth Grade Teacher for one of its two sections in the Lower School. Fourth Grade teachers at WPS report to the Lower School Head and typically instruct a classroom of between 14 – 18 students.
Highlights of the Fourth-Grade program at WPS include a literature-based reading curriculum using both traditional and contemporary novels with emphasis on literary elements and written response. Math is accelerated and taught at a 5th grade level. The instructor teaches reading, math, English, and spelling to one homeroom section and social studies to both sections.
Candidates for this position should possess an undergraduate degree in elementary education and work experience in a lower school environment. The ideal candidate will be a current Fourth Grade teacher with previous years in the role. Candidates with the appropriate degree(s), elementary school experience, and a desire to teach Fourth Grade students will be considered. State certification in early childhood instruction is desirable but not required. Candidates with an interest in coaching older students in athletics at WPS may be accommodated where such a coaching assignment does not conflict with the Lower School daily schedule.
Compensation and benefits are competitive with other area private schools and are adjusted based on experience level and credentials. Interested persons should send a letter of interest, resume, and educational philosophy (if available) to Mr. Randal E. Brown, Head of School, at email@example.com.
