Worcester Preparatory School seeks an experienced full-time high school French teacher to instruct students in French levels I – IV to include Honors and AP when demand warrants. Additionally, to teach an introduction to Latin in the Middle School in a two days per week format. This position reports to the Upper School Head and typically teaches five sections per day in a seven period schedule and may be assigned study halls, clubs, or other supervisory roles. Section sizes temporarily range from 14 – 18 students. In addition, each faculty member in the Upper and Middle School serve as advisor to seven to nine students.
Highlights of the French program at WPS include: (1) exploration of French food & culture (2) vocabulary acquisition and grammar (3) the four fundamentals of listening, speaking, reading, & writing and in the final year of instruction (4) reading small stories and full-length French novels as well as being fully conversational in French.
Candidates for this position should possess a BA degree with a major (preferred) or minor in French and be proficient in the language. Previous experience teaching French at the high school level at an independent school is desirable but not required. State certification is not required. Candidates with the experience and interest to head coach Varsity Girls Lacrosse or assist in coaching Varsity/JV Boys Soccer are desirable.
