SUMMARY OF POSITION Reporting to the Primary School Principal, the Primary School Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the Primary School administrative team to promote smooth day-to-day functioning of the school in support of students’ social, emotional, and academic growth. The Primary School Assistant Principal is responsible for focused supervision and instructional leadership in multiple grades.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Primary School Assistant Principal is a 12-month position, with key responsibilities outlined below. The Principal and/or Associate Head of School may assign additional duties in support of School objectives.
Actively promotes a climate of respect and understanding amongst faculty and staff, students, and parents.
In conjunction with the administrative team, creates and maintains master teaching schedules and meeting schedules.
Collaborates with the administrative team to coordinate all-school events, including new student orientations, parent and student-led conferences, and back to school nights.
Creates rota schedule, and oversees common area supervision by teachers and assistants, with a focus on the lunchroom and playground.
Participates in the onboarding, support and supervision of new teachers.
Supports the hiring and supervision of substitute teachers.
Coordinates field trips and special events through online form submissions specific to grade levels.
In cooperation with the Primary School Principal and Associate Head of School, ensures compliance with government regulations and agencies, and maintains the educational standards established by the state and by those agencies that examine and accredit the School.
Reviews and monitors student attendance, specific to grade levels. Communicates with families when students are frequently late or absent.
Supervises and evaluates grade-level teachers, assistant teachers, and single subject teachers, specific to grade levels.
Bolsters the work of the Student Support Team in meeting the needs of diverse learners.
In collaboration with the school counselor, oversees and supports student social/emotional learning, specific to grade levels.
Monitors and supports academic learning, specific to grade levels, through continuous review of assessment data and report cards.
Regularly communicates with parents of students, specific to grade levels.
Supervises curriculum development, specific to grade levels, in collaboration with the PS Principal and Director of Teaching and Learning.
Assists in the admission process for the evaluation of applicants for enrollment, specific to grade-levels.
Represents WIS in a manner that reflects the Mission and the Core Beliefs of Learning.
Previous International Baccalaureate PYP experience
Two to five years of administrative experience preferred?
Supervisory, appraisal and hiring experience
Ability to prioritize, work effectively under pressure, and pay attention to detail

Commitment to diversity and inclusion
Previous experience at an international school and/or cultural fluency derived from international experience is a plus
