Distinguished Scholars Program (DSP) Assistant Director/Instructor
Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for Distinguished Scholars Program (DSP) Assistant Director and Instructor. The DSP Assistant Director/Instructor provides oversight and delivery of the daily instruction for the 9th and 10th grade students in the Distinguished Scholars Program and supports the DSP Director in the administration of the Scholars program. This position is responsible to engage students new to the DSP and foster collaboration and positive culture. This position reports to the DSP Director and Principal.This is a part-time, exempt position that could be combined with teaching responsibilities in another department to become full-time. This position will begin in August 2019.
Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in humanities or research.
Three or more years of classroom teaching experience, secondary experience preferred.
Knowledge and familiarity with college level academic research methodology including research databases, APA format, and thesis synthesis and analysis.
Demonstrated proficiency in the instruction of presentation and debate skills including various methods of personal communication.
Well organized and demonstrated proficiency with recordkeeping.
Exhibit excellent verbal, visual, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Self-motivated with strong, positive interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with parents, students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Proficient in basic technology applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel) and Google Apps (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
Comply to and enforce all HC policies and operating procedures.
Exemplify Christian leadership in interactions with students, parents and co-workers.
Represent the school in a positive light.

Candidates should possess a vision for excellence in Academics at the high school level and a strong desire to achieve success. Qualified candidates must be skilled to provide classroom instruction. Effective organizational, communication, and presentation skills are necessary. Strong candidates will be energetic, creative, possess a strong work ethic and be willing to mentor students. The successful candidate will be a Christian leader with a commitment to the mission and vision of Houston Christian and its academic goals and will be passionate about the continuous development of excellence in Christian education. Occasional after school, evening or weekend hours will be necessary and contribution to the life of the school outside the classroom is expected.
