Collegiate School seeks an enthusiastic new teacher for our E. E. Ford Teaching Fellowship program. Candidates must be committed to the education of students and have a strong interest in a teaching career at an independent school. This position is a one-year, benefited appointment beginning in the fall of 2019.
The Ford Fellowship Program helps prepare the next generation of independent school teachers for careers in education. It is designed to offer new teachers an opportunity to participate in a rewarding and intensive mentorship program while experiencing a successful first year in the classroom.
The Ford Fellowship Program will partner this new faculty member with a master teacher in our Middle School. The Fellow will teach up to two sections and will work closely with the master teacher in curriculum development, understanding independent school culture, and the art of teaching in general. The Fellow will also regularly observe classes taught by the mentor and other teachers in the school. Athletic coaching will also be an important part of the Fellow’s role.
Successful candidates should have an undergraduate or graduate degree in History with no professional teaching experience, and should be interested in broad participation in school life including coaching three seasons and working with student clubs and activities.
