The Magis Center for Equity and Inclusion serves to ensure that families, students, and faculty/staff members have access to resources, programming, and education within the institution that they attend and serve and that is in alignment with the St. Ignatius mission and vision. The Center serves all students with a specific focus on the success of first-generation college-bound students of color and students from low socio-economic backgrounds. The Magis Center staff includes a Director, Associate Director, and an Alumni Volunteer.
The Associate Director is responsible for working closely with the Director in creating and shaping policies and structures that contribute to the mission of St. Ignatius, which calls for a “commitment to intellectual excellence, leadership, service, and justice.” Additionally, the Associate Director contributes to building a school culture where all members are welcomed, respected, and embraced. The Associate Director works in conjunction with other members of the Magis Center for Equity and Inclusion and collaborates with members of our community to ensure our students, faculty, staff, and families have full access to resources, programming, and education at St. Ignatius. The Associate Director will help to creates systems and programs to fulfill our mission and goals in the areas of student formation and support, curriculum development, hiring, supervision and evaluation, and admissions.
A successful candidate will:
have a Bachelor’s degree and a California Teaching Credential or Master’s Degree in a related field;
be prepared to make significant contributions to the larger life of the school;
have significant previous secondary school experience;
have experience in developing culturally responsive curricula and programs;
possess the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and skills in facilitating dialogue;
thrive in a collaborative and dynamic learning environment.
