The teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth; and for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success. This position will teach several sections of Middle School performing arts courses based on the faculty member’s expertise, including MS Drama, Dance or Music courses. This position will be responsible for directing one of the two major productions in the Upper School--either the US Fall Play or the US Winter Musical.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement curriculum in alignment with department expectations
Implement instructional activities that actively engage students in meaningful learning
Facilitate the technical design of lighting and sets for the one of the Upper School theatrical productions: Fall Play and Spring Musical
Collaborate with Friends of the Arts and Saint Andrew’s Parents Association regarding theatrical performances, in conjunction with the Director of Performing Arts
Serve as faculty sponsor to Upper School students in Thespian society
Maintain accurate student records of attendance and performance
Communicate effectively with students, parents and other professionals on a regular basis
Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment
Use effective class management techniques to ensure effective instruction
Maintain expertise in subject matter through professional development
Teach up to three sections
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
1-3 years teaching experience
Excellent organizational skills
Clear written and oral communication skills
