To provide general assistance in implementing an instructional program that is attentive to individual students' academic, social, and emotional needs as well as providing support to the extracurricular and co-curricular activities of the upper school program. (12-month position).
Essential Job Functions:
Responds to parent contacts regarding instructional concerns, referring parents to the teacher, guidance counselor, a team leader, or curriculum coordinator, if appropriate.
Assigns coverage for absent teachers and assistants.
Assists in the development and implementation of the master calendar and helps plan/supervise special events.
Implements a multi-tier, multi-faceted faculty, and student incentive/recognition/appreciation program.
Assists the Director in the monitoring and clinical education supervision of teachers, curriculum coordinators, and Department Chair responsibilities, including: material and supply orders; computer software and hardware needs; textbook orders; snack orders; curriculum revision; meeting agenda; and annual performance appraisals.
Coordinates and assists faculty in the development of personal strategies for dealing effectively with classroom issues by providing resource services, recommending instructional strategies, approaches to behavioral issues, and be responsible for special discipline needs as related to classroom, bus, playground, field trips, etc.
Participates in interviews with prospective faculty members.
Provides administrative support of school functions, in coordination with other administrative staff, through attendance and by assuming administrative responsibilities (including administrative support for the middle school athletic programs as well as chaperoning responsibilities).
Coordinates academic schedules, academic progress reports, report cards, and parent conferences as related to content, form, and function.
Assists in the process of ensuring proper maintenance of the School interior and exterior and serves as a liaison with Physical Plant to ensure proper environments within the School.
Plans with team leaders the details of day and overnight field trips.
Oversees community service programs.
Maintains records that indicate personal interests in both school and out of school activities, awards, and recognition for all Upper School students.
May serve on the Admissions Committee for the school and participate in the admission process as needed.
Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Job Functions:
Assists the administrative staff in gathering and compiling information for special reports and curriculum revisions.
Attends and participates in departmental meetings, planning projects, activities, and school related evening and weekend programs.
Be responsible for the arrangement and storage of materials, equipment, and supplies.
Familiarity with school centralized computer systems.
Experience in an independent school.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Certifications/Licensures: Successful completion of the FDLE Background Screening.
Required Education: Master's Degree
Major (if required): Education or related field
Five (5) years teaching experience with at least three (3) years in grades 9-12.
