Westridge is seeking an engaged and innovative librarian to provide leadership and support to the Academic Team in the digital transformation of learning. With a passion for books, technology and multimedia, the ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of contemporary research trends and the ability to inspire curiosity and creativity in students and teachers. The librarian will work closely with teachers and other Westridge educators to build and strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, information literacy skills, and information resources. This position reports to the director of technology and will oversee Westridge’s newly redesigned Academic Resource Center (ARC).
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Manage the ARC reference and circulation services, collection development, acquisitions and serials management
Evaluate, acquire, and promote a full range of information resources to promote student learning to meet the learning needs of all learners
Model the effective and enthusiastic use of books, digital media and other creative expressions of information as sources of pleasure and information
Work with administration to develop and lead literacy programs that foster a love of reading
Collaborate with the media literacy coordinator to develop and implement a comprehensive information/media literacy program across the curriculum
Work regularly with teachers, students, administration, and other members of the learning community to develop and implement long-term strategic plans that align the information/media literacy program with the school’s mission and strategic goals
Use a variety of teaching methods, media, and communication to ensure that students can access and use all types of new media and information sources
Offer and promote ongoing staff development related to the integration of information technology and the use of information literacy as a member of the EdTech Team
Collaborate with teachers, administration, and others to evaluate the scope and sequence of research skills across all grade levels
Lead efforts to develop and publicize policies and procedures that advocate safe practices online and compliance with copyright and other relevant laws
Continuously update personal competencies in learning and teaching, information access and delivery, administration and supervision and technology utilization
Build skills and provide opportunities that help recognize, respect and embrace diversity of all kinds, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Model flexibility in implementing best learning practices
Support the well-being of all students
Participate regularly in professional development opportunities to maintain and grow expertise in the subject matter
Participate in ongoing skill development in diversity and equity to promote a culture of community and inclusion
Participate in the greater life of the division and school
Take on other duties as needed
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master of Library Science, preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary research methodologies and best practices
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional methods, strategies and pedagogy
Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required
Familiarity with ISTE standards
Excellent project management and organizational skills
Ability to embrace a collaborative work style and interact in a positive and proactive manner with all school constituencies
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Demonstrated competency in student and faculty work that promotes diversity, inclusion, equity, and community engagement
Demonstrated experience and skill in the effective use of technology and integrating technological applications in the classroom

Salaries are competitive. Full-time employees are eligible for health benefits which include full medical, dental, and vision coverage and participation in an ample retirement plan with TIAA-CREF.
