The upper school social sciences teacher will teach students in grades 9-12. This may include U.S and Virgin Islands history, Economics, and other subjects depending on experience and expertise. The teacher will join a collaborative English and social sciences department.
Upper School Teaching • Plan and teach four core social science courses to upper school students. • Advise students on senior thesis. • Teach at least one elective. • Willingness to advise club(s) based on expertise and interests. • Demonstrate extensive content knowledge and best practices in pedagogy as well as commitment to continuous improvement. • Regularly assess students to provide feedback, identify student strengths and weaknesses, and ensure student growth. • Provide additional support to students in need through office hours and study halls. • Communicate student progress to parents using PlusPortals, Google Classroom, email, and conferences as needed. • Prepare students for relevant AP or other tests. • Ensure an optimal classroom environment with clear expectations for conduct.
