Squaw Valley Academy seeks to hire an experienced Spanish teacher, who will be responsible for teaching five classes per semester. The successful candidate will prepare and implement daily lesson plans as well as collaborate with colleagues.
Candidates should have demonstrated success teaching to a range of learners and at least two years’ prior teaching experience. Using a variety of strategies and modalities, the position will necessitate differentiation and consistent assessments. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching, effective classroom management skills with a knowledge of how to assess and grade students’ progress, and the ability to develop educational programming. A Masters degree in a related field and AP experience is preferred.
The average class size at Squaw Valley Academy is 8-10 students.
All teachers are responsible for implementing the current curriculum, which is in line with the California state standards. Successful candidates will have experience with the thoughtful integration of technology in the classroom. They are also responsible for communicating with SVA administration, chaperoning daily afternoon activities, serving as a student advisor, leading a club, proctoring one study hall a week, and working one weekend per month. Boarding school experience is a plus. SVA seeks positive, enthusiastic, and versatile individuals who wish to become an active part of our learning community.
