Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and the other in Manhattan. Ethical Culture School, located on the Upper West Side at 63rd Street and Central Park West, is comprised of approximately 450 students Pre-K through 5th Grade and 80 faculty members.

Ethical Culture Fieldston Middle After School program is currently looking for an Model UN Club Instructor for 7th and 8th grade. The instructor must have experience working with middle school students and 1-2 years experience teaching debate, history, or global studies. Middle School students will step into the shoes of UN ambassadors to debate current issues on the organization's agenda. Club members will be tasked to research select countries, debate, establish policies, treaties, and resolutions focusing on international issues. This will include disputes between countries, peace-keeping responsibilities, border crisis, hunger, disease, and poverty. The responsibilities of the instructor are but not limited to:
Develop a curriculum keeping to the theme of the Model U.N.
Motivate students with effective communication and evaluative feedback
Maintain effective classroom management
Have a basic understanding of current and historical international issues and concerns
Teach the principles of argumentation and research techniques
Be reliable and able to attend two Model UN conferences
A Bachelor’s Degree in related field
The instructor must have experience working with middle school students and 1-2 years experience teaching debate, history, or global studies
The club meets Thursdays at 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. The instructor must be available during these times for the period of employment.
