The Bush School, a K-12 progressive, independent school located in Seattle, WA, is seeking an Assistant Director of Admissions to oversee the Lower and Middle School admissions program. We are looking for a candidate who will support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency.
The Assistant Director of Admissions reports to the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, and together they set strategy and priorities for all aspects of recruitment of Lower and Middle School applicants from point of inquiry to enrolling. The ideal candidate will have customer-service orientation, commitment to equity and inclusion, and strong interpersonal skills. The Bush School is seeking an admissions professional with a customer-service orientation and strong interpersonal skills who also demonstrates initiative and drive to be a value added team member of a robust enrollment program.
Support annual admissions plan that includes daily operations, elevates diversity, equity and inclusion, and fosters a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and data-driven decision making
Coordinate and implement Lower and Middle School admissions and retention programs and events, including parent tours, student visits, open houses, assessment days, divisional retention programming, and new family welcome events
Work closely with parent volunteers, including recruiting, selecting, and training parent tour guides
Coordinate applicant decision making process for Lower and Middle School admissions committees following policies, standards, and committee structure determined by Director of Admissions and Financial Aid
Input and export data into admissions database (Ravenna) along with Admissions and Communication Coordinator, including entry and tracking of Lower and Middle School inquiries, applications, supporting documents, and decisions
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required
3 plus years of admissions or educational experience preferred
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion required
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Maintain strong work ethic with high standards of professionalism, organization, accountability, and confidentiality
Demonstrates maturity, resourcefulness, and judgment in decision making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with student information systems and databases (Ravenna or other enrollment database)
Able to learn new technology
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs and web-based software
