Job Overview: The School is experiencing growth and demand among families with a specific interest in its early childhood and elementary school programs. CSS is currently seeking an experienced kindergarten teacher who is ready to provide direct instruction in language arts, math, science, and social studies, with a strong interest in supporting the social and emotional growth of each child.
The individual selected for this role will report directly to the Director of the Children’s School and will fulfill all duties that will include, but are not limited to:
Roles & Responsibilities:
Co-lead teacher with considerable emphasis on growth and development in language & literacy
Create and support a positive, mission-appropriate climate suitable for kindergarten students
Apply basic tenets of RULER (social-emotional awareness) and other CSS approved methodologies in the supervision and teaching of children.
Observe and record areas of growth, skill development, and social & emotional development
Evaluate the kindergarten curriculum with a focus on content and skill alignment
Provide a warm environment and possess an innate desire to nurture kindergarten age students
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree (preferred) in elementary education from an accredited college or university
3+ years of experience lead teaching language arts in an early elementary school setting
Familiarity and practice with a variety of early childhood pedagogy
Strong understanding of children’s academic, social and emotional development
Experience implementing literacy skills (ex. Orton-Gillingham or Lindamood Bell methodologies)
Team player willing to work collaboratively with co-teacher, colleagues, and families
Innovative mindset with skills in communication, student-centered learning, and technology
Attentive to details/conditions as they pertain to student whereabouts and safety
Enjoy building relationships with students and their families
Eager to participate in other aspects of school life
