The Burr and Burton Academy science department seeks a passionate and dedicated full-time teacher who has the skills and flexibility to teach a range of science classes to a diverse set of learners, beginning August 2019. Candidates should be well-versed in inquiry-based pedagogy and Next Generation Science Standards, have experience facilitating laboratory work with all levels of high school students, and be dedicated to collaborative professional growth. A strong science background is essential, and the ability to teach multiple science disciplines is preferred. Teaching assignments will be based on candidate’s strengths and interests in the context of current staff. The department currently employs a physics-first curriculum in which students progress to Chemistry and then Biology. Opportunities may also exist to work collaboratively with the math department to design a STEAM curriculum. Applicants should submit a personal statement, resume and references (preferably in a single pdf document) to Robin Urbanski, Assistant to the Headmaster, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Candidates will be considered on a rolling basis. The posting will be removed from the school's website once the position is filled.
