Position Overview and Responsibilities: Riverdale’s Student Life K-12 Program supports character development and guides students as they make meaning and discover their purpose. The pillars of Student Life align closely with Riverdale’s mission of mind, character, community: Identity and Belonging; Social Emotional Learning; Health and Wellness; and Learning to Learn. Our counseling department provides direct student support, consults with division heads and grade level deans, advises faculty and collaborates with our Learning Research Ream, Community Engagement Team and Health Department.
We are seeking a full-time mental health practitioner, ideally one who is fluent in Spanish, to support a caseload of individual students and work closely with our Middle School administration and faculty. As an integral part of the Middle School, the counselor will advise the peer leadership program in Grade 8 and may teach a section of Middle School Health. In addition, the counselor will facilitate groups with students and families of color in order to help the students thrive in our school and work closely with the Community Engagement Team. They will work collaboratively with our School Psychologist and the Director of Student Life, who oversees the department.
The School seeks diversity in its faculty, staff, and student body. In admissions and employment policies and practices, in financial aid and loan programs, and in all its educational programs, Riverdale does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national and ethnic origin, disability, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, and any other protected categories under applicable law.
Interested candidates should apply by sending an email including a cover letter and resume to Dean of Faculty, Richard Lapidus (email@example.com), and Director of Student Life, Christina Young (firstname.lastname@example.org).
