Newark Academy is seeking an engaging and highly motivated admissions professional to serve in the role of Assistant or Associate Director Admission (final title will be determined by experience level of the selected candidate). The Assistant/Associate Director of Admission works closely with the Director of Admission and Enrollment Management to manage the annual process of identifying, engaging, evaluating, and selecting prospective students who will join the diverse and dynamic Newark Academy student body.
This position is a full-time, 12 month appointment.
Reports to: Director of Admission and Enrollment Management
In collaboration with the entire Admission team develop, execute, and evaluate the vision for enrollment management at Newark Academy.
Work closely with the Director of Admission and Enrollment Management to obtain input from key constituent groups of the school to create long and short term recruitment strategies.
Plan, organize and produce special events related to the admission process including but not limited to open house/information sessions, group tours, feeder school receptions, student special interest activities (e.g. Arts and Athletics Night) and accepted students/families receptions.
Manage the expenses and asset allocations for all admission-related events.
Coordinate all aspects of the NA Admission Student Ambassador (tour guide) program and Parent Ambassador program, including recruitment and assignment of volunteers.
Oversee the work of the Admission Office Manager in the planning and scheduling of prospective student visiting days and interviews.
Effectively build relationships and communicate consistently with prospective students and their families via email and phone (inbound and outbound) to keep them fully engaged throughout the admission process.
Conduct interviews with prospective students and their parents to assess readiness for Newark Academy admission.
Serve as a key member of the Admission Committee, including thorough reading of prospective student files and making recommendations on the candidacy of prospective students.
Represent Newark Academy at various school fairs and professional development conferences.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admission and Enrollment Management.
College degree required (all professional staff at Newark Academy must have a bachelor’s degree)
Three to five years’ work experience in an independent or higher education admission office setting
Strong organizational skills with extraordinary attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting demanding deadlines
Experience and success in working with children grades 6-12
Demonstrated ability to initiate projects and self-direct
Understanding of, and enthusiasm for, seasonal work demands of the admission cycle
Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed
Thorough working knowledge of tools and technology for managing the admission and enrollment management process and strong command of data analysis (specific experience in using Blackbaud solutions for K-12 schools preferred)
Experience in administering financial aid is preferred
Proficiency with software platforms including, but not limited to Outlook, Microsoft Office, GSuite
