Crystal Springs Uplands School seeks a part-time or full-time Upper School Advanced Topics in Biology / Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology teacher starting August 2019. We have flexibility in this position being either 0.75 FTE (3 sections) or 1.0 FTE (4 sections) -- with both options granting full benefits. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of Advanced Biology teaching experience and a B.A./B.S. in a relevant field (Masters Degree preferred). A successful candidate in this position will:
? Exhibit a passion for content knowledge and a range of effective pedagogical approaches while teaching 3-4 sections of 11th/12th grade Advanced Topics in Biology and 11th/12th grade Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology. ? Advanced Topics in Biology covers topics including Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Biotechnology. ? Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology encompasses the structure and functions of the central nervous system, sensation, memory, attention, emotion, and psychology. ? Show a willingness to engage students in meaningful labs and to foster a project-based learning environment ? Prioritize student safety during lab experiments and help manage the lab facilities ? Demonstrate commitment to equitable and culturally responsive teaching practices ? Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and challenging learning environment that reflects Crystal’s core values and allows our diverse student body to grow and thrive ? Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop integrated and meaningful curriculum and programming ? Integrate technology in effective ways that enhances students’ learning experiences and growth ? Take advantage of opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and community building ? Serve as an advisor who is committed to the social and emotional development of students ? Bring unique skills to contribute to our multifaceted community outside of the classroom (e.g. coaching, sponsoring a club, leading a global trip, speaking multiple languages, etc.)
