Reports to: Head of Upper School
Position Status: This position is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 10-month position.
Degrees or formal training in Computer Science. Master’s Degree and/or professional or practical experience in a relevant field preferred
Two years of Upper School teaching experience and a background in integrated studies preferred but not required
Duties & Responsibilities
Teach 4 sections of Computer Science
Co-teach a 3-week immersive, interdisciplinary class during Jan Term
Work directly with other Upper School Computer Science teachers as part of a Computer Science Professional Learning Community
Advise students as part of the Upper School Advisory Program
Contribute to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring other extracurricular programs. Depending on candidate expertise, responsibilities may include robotics, Science Olympiad, or other relevant extracurriculars.
In addition to experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates demonstrate a love of working with children, an engaging teaching style, the ability to interact well with parents and colleagues, and a willingness to create and promote an inclusive learning environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
