Saint Gertrude High School is seeking a Director of Teaching for the 2019/20 school year. The Director of Teaching oversees all aspects of the teaching and academic program at Saint Gertrude within the context of the school’s unique mission and its Benedictine charism and values. The Director has primary responsibility for the leadership and mentorship of the school’s faculty and works closely with the faculty to ensure that the school offers a comprehensive range of high quality academic programs and activities to enhance student learning at Saint Gertrude.
Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Teaching will structure and oversee an engaging academic program that meets the needs of the diversity of students enrolled in the school as well as maintaining the standards required of a college preparatory program. To that end, the Director oversees and works in collaboration with department chairs to ensure that all faculty receive the support and professional development to achieve individual and collective pedagogical excellence and effectiveness. The Director also oversees the school’s Library and Academic Technology department.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with students, parents, faculty and administrative staff, Board members and all other school constituents.
Ability to effectively evaluate and supervise faculty, including Library and academic technology staff.
Advanced computer expertise and a thorough familiarization of trends in educational technology and pedagogical methods
Ability to work additional hours as required
Ability to work at a desk and a computer for long periods of time
Limited travel required, primarily for professional development
Completion of Diocesan VIRTUS initial training and all monthly updates throughout employment.
Maintaining up-to-date MAT training and certification.
