Brooks School seeks candidates for the position of Teacher of Mathematics. This appointment will be effective July 1, 2019. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter with résumé/CV and a statement of teaching philosophy.
The mission of Brooks School is to provide the most meaningful educational experience to our students. To successfully do that, teachers at Brooks must be fully engaged in all aspects of the students life, both in and out of the classroom. Brooks teachers are expected to teach, advise, supervise, care about the students, work in partnership with parents, advocate and promote the school, work collegially with administrators and fellow faculty, and grow professionally. A full-time teaching position includes teaching four sections, coaching two sports/activities, residential, and community responsibilities.
The successful candidate will have:
Proficiency teaching Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-calculus, and a desire to teach AP Calculus.
Innovative student-centered teaching practices and experience or interest in problem based-learning pedagogy that balance the development of procedural skills, conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas, appropriate use of technology, and opportunities for critical thinking and problem solving.
Enthusiasm to utilize technology to enhance instruction and student learning.
Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within the department.
