The Walker School is a nonsectarian, co-educational independent day school serving three year olds through twelfth grade in Marietta, Georgia. The school was founded in 1957 and currently enrolls approximately 900 students. Walker seeks a skilled, dedicated, experienced individual to provide safety and security services on The Walker School campus with an emphasis on customer service and good community relations.
Develops and implements appropriate crisis management plans. Works cooperatively with personnel involved in the crisis management plan in academic arenas.
Plans and executes all necessary safety drills, conducts follow-up meetings, maintains drill log, and reports any required information to authorities.
Responds to safety and security related requests by School Administrators, parents, and other visitors to The Walker School.
Manages morning and afternoon carpool.
Monitors school calendar weekly and daily to ensure appropriate security coverage; monitors and arranges security according to the needs of the school, and makes necessary changes to schedule.
Assists in the recommendation, development, and implementation of improvements to procedures, furnishings, equipment, and systems.
Maintains a security log of all activities and incidents occurring on campus.
Conducts investigations and creates incident reports of all incidents involving the security and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors including thefts, threats, break-ins, property damage, and injuries on campus (and supervision lapses) within 24 hours of the incident.
Operates and monitors all appropriate control panels, alarms, and all related security equipment. Frequently checks fire and security systems for proper operation. Must be able to troubleshoot and correct minor difficulties.
Responds to all alarms.
Functions as the primary contact / responder for campus security system provider and fire protection.
Schedules required inspections for safety equipment and maintains a log book (hoods, elevator, sprinkler systems, etc)
Maintains contact and is accessible to School Administrators via cellular phone, and 2-way radio. (during both regular work hours and after hours.)
Maintains keys and log of keys distributed.
Makes scheduled tours of school and grounds by vehicle or walking to ensure security, and watches for conditions that could result in injury or loss.
Monitors and resolves actions by visitors, drivers, or employees that could cause injury or loss to school or employees.
Ensures appropriate security coverage at school functions as requested by The Walker School administration.
Performs clerical functions incidental to security.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of law enforcement methods, techniques, and procedures.
Working knowledge of The Walker School organizational policies and procedures including appropriate human resources compliance.
An ability to recognize problems and choose the appropriate solution from among several.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to read simple instructions and operate independently.
Physical Work Environment:
Workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines, and time pressures.
Work regularly requires sustained concentration.
Work requires considerable physical effort or manual dexterity.
Sufficient vision (with correction) to read and to observe more distant objects.
Ability to do considerable walking in order to make rounds of facility.
Sufficient stamina to work outside in bad weather conditions when required.
