Work collaboratively with the Chief Advancement Officer to identify new initiatives and set program directions for the Advancement program. The Director of Development has the responsibility for managing, evaluating, and ensuring the effective operations of the annual support, alumni/ae programs, data management, research, special events, parents’ association and office operations.
Oversee the Office of Annual Giving to develop and implement strategies to enhance the Annual Giving program.
Oversee Alumni/ae Programs and provide strategic direction and long range/short range planning for overall alumni/ae programming.
Work closely with the staff on the Administrative Services program.
Work closely with the staff on the design and coordination of special events.
Work closely with the Parent Association Liaison in an effort to serve as a resource to the Parents’ Association.
Manage prospect pool of 50 for BB&N Fund Leadership.
Organize and direct the hiring of new staff in collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer. Develop appropriate training programs and oversee staff professional development. Conduct evaluations for staff reporting directly to this position.
A highly experienced development professional capable of earning the respect of and interfacing effectively with members of the of the Advancement Office, faculty, Head of School, administration, Board of Trustees and other school volunteers.
A minimum of eight (8) years work experience required in the development field, preferably at an independent school or in higher education.
Strong management experience required with the ability and interest to work closely with staff members to achieve individual and department goals.
Strong background in Annual Giving, including leadership programs, alumni/ae reunion and non-reunion programs, and constituent relations programs.
Broad understanding of supporting advancement services: research, prospect tracking, stewardship, gift entry, gift acknowledgement, and data entry.
Significant exposure to overseeing alumni/ae programming designed to support comprehensive needs of a broad constituency.
Demonstrated ability to personally and effectively identify, cultivate, and secure gifts from annual fund and major gift prospects.
