Sayre School seeks a dedicated professional who loves Middle and Upper School students to teach French in our World Language program beginning in the 2019-20 school year. Sayre is an independent Pre-K -12 school in Lexington, KY, and our mission focuses on fostering academic excellence, embracing challenge and cultivating integrity. Our World Language Program offers Spanish and French, Level One through AP, and students are required to take a language for a minimum of three years. French teachers share teaching responsibilities in both the Middle and Upper Schools, with the typical teaching load consisting of five classes and three preps.

he successful candidate holds an undergraduate degree in French, and a Master’s degree in French or teaching a second language, and has native or near-native proficiency. Language classes are proficiency based so candidates should have experience teaching in an immersive environment, with the goal of staying in the target language 90-100% of the time, depending on the level. Candidates must bring a love of learning languages and cultures to the job, a willingness to contribute meaningfully to the development of the program, an active curiosity about kids of this age, openness to all forms of human diversity, flexibility, and a sense of humor. Sayre Middle School has a 1-to-1 iPad program, and the Upper School has a 1-to-1 laptop program, so candidates should be familiar with integrating technology into the curriculum.
