The Office of Admission at Westover School conveys the Westover message both internally and externally to successfully enroll, educate, and unify a diverse community of young women who will graduate and become agents of change in the world. Under the supervision of the Director of Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid works and collaborates with the full Admission team to achieve our goals.
The Director of Financial Aid oversees and manages the School’s financial aid program, managing aid in excess of $4,000,000. A thorough understanding of and experience with need-based financial aid is required. The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical skills; strong interpersonal, communication and technological skills; and a demonstrated commitment to working with prospective and returning families.
In addition, this position will include some Admissions Office responsibilities such as recruiting, interviewing and evaluating prospective students, traveling to represent Westover at school fairs and functions, and participating on the Admissions Committee. This full-time staff position may also include student advising, evening and weekend duties, and other responsibilities as needed.
Essential Duties; Financial Aid & Admission Processes
In partnership with the Director of Enrollment Management, Head of School, and the COO, develop and execute financial aid strategies to yield top-ranked, admitted students;
Manage a $4.0M financial aid budget for Westover School and maintain a discount range 34-36% of the annual budget, or lower; Prepare financial statements, commentary, and forecasting for the leadership team as needed.
Review, process and manage all SSS applications for financial aid; use reporting tools and share with the team as needed;
Partner with the DEM to develop, manage, and execute visionary recruitment, enrollment management, and retention/attrition strategies that position Westover as a leader in girls education;
Participate in all aspects of Westover’s campus visit program, including interviewing, giving campus tours, and events to prospective families;
Develop relationships with referring professionals globally to achieve annual enrollment goals;
Work with the Rasin Center for Global Justice regarding international enrollment/admission process;
Attend and represent Westover School at assigned school fairs, events, conferences, etc. Travel as necessary, both international and domestic; coordinate travel with other Westover offices and boarding schools, as needed;
Attend professional development conferences on admission/enrollment management, as needed and appropriate;
Participate/sit on various internal committees as assigned by DEM;
Chair the Faculty Fund working directly with Alumnae-Development and Dean of Students to fairly and equitably support student needs beyond tuition;
Chair the Named Scholarship program annually with the Alumnae-Development office.
Extract, analyze, and maintain admission and retention data for analytics as related to the funnel, strategy development, enrollment management, and retention. Work with DEM, Head of School, and COO on reporting to the Board of Trustees and other internal and external stakeholders;
Enter interview, contacts, and communications with prospective families, consultants, feeder schools, etc into the database in a timely manner;
Ability to create annual projections based on historical financial data from families to support sustainable year-to-year financial planning.
Qualifications & Required Skills:
Financial skill set specific to the review, assessment, and management of the financial aid budget and related to parent financial statements;
Exceptional verbal, written and communication skills;
Database management; knowledge of systems such as Blackbaud, Interactive Schools, Finalsite, etc;
Proficient using Google and Microsoft Office Suites;
Social media savvy;
Event planning management;
Ability to multi-task, be socially flexible, manage a front-end office.
This job involves extended periods of sitting, data entry and computer use, as well as frequent lifting and use of stairs. Extensive walking and standing are required for tours, visits, and events.
