City and Country School seeks three Middle School Shared Associates for the 2019-20 academic year, beginning in late August 2019.
The Shared Associate primarily works with either 3rd, 4th or 5th graders. With two groups at each age level, the Associate will be shared by two cooperating teachers. Each group has approximately 16 students.

One day a week the Shared Associate "floats," (or acts as a substitute) as needed, within the Middle and Upper School (3rd- 8th grade). If no coverage is needed on an Associate's "Float Day,” they remain in the classroom.
A Shared Associate responsibilities include:

In addition to the classroom responsibilities the Middle/Upper School Associates share Morning Yard duties (M-F 8-8:30 am) for additional compensation. The specific schedule is to be determined in August 2019.
City and Country School is an independent, progressive school for children ages 2-13 in Greenwich Village. Children at City and Country develop responsibility and a strong sense of community through group experiences such as block building and work with other open-ended materials in the Lower School, and group jobs in the Middle and Upper School. Through trips, books and opportunities for other first-hand experiences, children learn to ask questions and conduct meaningful research. An underlying respect for children, the group process, and a social-studies driven, interdisciplinary approach are among the hallmarks of our program.
