Background: UMS-Wright Preparatory School is an independent, coeducational day school. The school enrolls 1210 +/- students in K3-12th grade (385 students in the Upper School). Applications are currently being taken for the position of Upper School Science teacher, with an emphasis in physics and chemistry.
Broad Description: -Responsible for all aspects of classroom instruction in accordance with curriculum requirements and objectives established by the school. -Proficiency in the use of classroom technology. Knowledge of and experience with interactive white boards, learning management systems, and similar technology is preferred -Ability to motivate students and utilize a variety of teaching strategies to address various learning modalities is essential -Willingness to work as an active team member -The specific teaching assignment is still to be determined, however, it will be in the areas of physics and chemistry - Experience in facilitation of interactive STEM labs would be a great asset
Most UMS-Wright teachers sponsor at least one co-curricular activity, such as Scholar's Bowl, Key Club, Chess Club, etc.
-Candidate should possess at minimum a BS degree in physics, chemistry, science education or a related field of study. A master's degree or higher is preferred. -A minimum of three years teaching experience in field is preferred. -Proficiency in the use of classroom technology -Understanding of classroom safety procedures for science -Understanding of effective classroom management procedures
