Glenelg Country School seeks a teacher for the ninth grade Ancient Studies team for the 2019/2020 academic year beginning in August. This double-credit course serves as the core Humanities requirement for ninth grade and is designed to let students explore ancient cultures from around the globe while also developing essential skills for success in the humanities. Candidates will find joy in teaching and working with students with a range of abilities. In addition, candidates should have experience teaching a differentiated curriculum, communicating ideas through multiple modalities, and assessing learning through a variety of approaches and methods. Ideal candidates will have experience or educational background in world history, especially non-Western, and in literature and writing curricula. Teachers with those qualities who are looking to work in a collaborative atmosphere with colleagues that encourage learning in and out of the classroom are encouraged to apply. The Humanities Department faculty typically teaches four or five sections, with two or three preps. In addition to teaching, the position includes serving as an academic advisor to a small group of students, and/or contributing to the community as a coach, club advisor, or member of a school committee.
