Summary: The Athletic Trainer position is part time, 46%-time, exempt position. Estimated work schedule will be 2:15 - 6:00 pm during the academic school year to cover practices and home contests. Extra hours will be required for extended home contests, one week before and after the school year to cover football practices, and all football home and away contests.
Responsibilities: - Organize and manage daily operation of the athletic training room. - Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and work independently. - Conducts an initial assessment of an athlete’s injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care, and determine whether they should be referred to a physician for definite diagnosis and treatment. - Maintain accurate records of all injuries, treatments and protocols provided. - Assess and report progress of recovering athletes to coaches and family. - Conduct and evaluate head injury/concussion pre-screening, recovery protocol and return-to-play status. - Provide coverage for home practices and contests. - Provide coverage for all football games and play-off contests. - Maintain the ability to work flexible hours.
Physical Demands: Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. ?Requires eye-hand coordination, normal hearing and eyesight, and the ability to communicate well and handle high amounts of stress. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have earned a bachelor’s degree in physical training, athletic training or kinesiology; a master’s degree is preferred. Must be a certified athletic trainer and have 2 - 3 years of professional experience as an athletic trainer, preferably in a school or university setting.
Familiarity with Google G-Suite for education and Mac hardware/systems is preferred. A commitment to diversity and inclusion with a strong sense of cultural competency is essential.
