All Saints’ Episcopal Day School, in Central Phoenix, is seeking an Interim School Counselor, beginning in August of 2019. The candidate for this full-time position will join an exceptional and talented faculty and will work with students who are bright, motivated, and engaging.
Serve as a counselor to students in lower and middle school
Instruct Life Skills classes for all students
Interact and be available to students at recess on a regular basis
Provide professional development for faculty
Plan instructional activities in collaboration with departmental colleagues and attend regular collaborative planning meetings
Initiate and plan parent education activities
Attend regular collaborative planning meetings
Provide before-school or after-school counseling service to students, parents, faculty, and staff as needed
Commit to expertise and growth in content and methodology
Maintain professional reading (books and journals)
Attend a minimum of one conference per year
Learn, apply, and integrate technology as appropriate
Maintain a disciplined learning environment within a student-centered classroom, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect
Demonstrate a passion for subject content, mastery, and love of learning
Be available to students, parents, faculty, and staff before and after school
Maintain a challenging academic environment
Maintain an organized lesson plan book (subject matter outline, daily lesson plans, assessments, etc.)
Implement curriculum and revise as necessary to meet the current needs of students
Integrate and use technology to enhance student learning and achievement
Prepare grade reports, progress reports, attendance reports, counselor reports, and other such reports promptly and in accordance with school policy or at the request of the division head
Professional Responsibilities and Duties
Execute all duties in a timely manner (holds class on time, meets deadlines, etc.)
Promote and maintain a collegial, educational environment throughout the campus
Collaborate effectively with colleagues and administration
Maintain timely and proactive communication with parents and colleagues
Attend meetings and participate in committees as directed by the Head of Middle School or Head of School
Participate in the ASEDS community activities outside of school hours
Abide by the spirit and policies in the Employee Handbook, Lower School and Middle School Faculty Handbook
Uphold the spirit and guidelines of The All Saints’ Way
Bachelor’s degree in counseling
Subject specific education, training and/or experience
Ability to utilize and integrate technology into instruction
Ability to connect well with others including students, parents, colleagues, and administrative staff
Creativity, passion for subject matter, and positive attitude
An appreciation for and an understanding of the social, emotional, educational and developmental needs of the elementary age children
