Cannon School is searching for a Director of Safety and Security to begin July 2019. The Director of Safety and Security will work closely with the school’s administration to develop, implement and manage a comprehensive safety and security program for the school. Cannon School is located on 65 acres and includes five academic buildings, performing arts center, two gymnasiums and six athletic fields.
The Director of Safety and Security will work with the school community to ensure the overall safety of the students, faculty and staff and to create increased awareness amongst our constituent groups. The Director will be directly responsible for emergency response programs, training on security protocols for students, employees and key vendors, coordinating and executing campus wide safety drills, administering access control and alarm systems, and for conducting regular assessments for campus security needs. This position will also chair the school’s safety and security committee and serve on other committees where appropriate.
In addition to day to day campus security management, the Director of Safety and Security will need to build relationships both within and outside of the school. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with and mentoring children and have excellent interpersonal skills. This position will also serve as a liaison with local first responders and other key community stakeholders and will need to maintain our positive working relationship with the City of Concord’s first responders.
The ideal candidate will have previous military and/or law enforcement experience, working knowledge of law enforcement methods, techniques and procedures, emergency management and large-scale campus security management. The ideal candidate must be HR 218 eligible and willing to undergo an annual firearms recertification.
