Berkeley Carroll Lower School seeks a part-time, experienced school psychologist to contribute to and support a nurturing and productive learning environment for the approximately 380 students in the division. The school psychologist reports directly to the Lower School Director and works collaboratively with other administrators, learning specialists, faculty, staff, and parents to support students. The Lower School Psychologist provides consultation and occasionally presents to faculty, staff, and parents regarding psychosocial issues affecting students and general childhood development. The position is for 3 full days per week.
A passion for working with young children (ages 3-10), a flexible approach, a collaborative attitude, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a sense of humor are essential.
Consult with and educate faculty and parents on student behavioral and psychological issues
Make referrals to outside providers
Read and interpret neuropsychological assessments and assist in implementing recommendations
Ph.D or Psy.D in clinical or school psychology preferred
License and/or certification in New York State to practice as a psychologist or school psychologist
Previous experience working with young children and their families
Previous experience working in an independent school system preferred
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
Highly effective crisis management skills
