Atlanta Girls’ School is the only independent school for girls in Atlanta, serving girls in grades 6–12. AGS authentically lives its mission of Inspiring Girls to Lead Lives of Purpose.
The position is responsible for initiating and managing relationships, representing the community and its philanthropic needs to corporate and foundation communities, and attracting resources for institutional priorities. The Director of Institutional Advancement reports to and partners with the Head of School and partners Board of Trustees in the overall planning, integration, and oversight of all institutional development programs. The Director is the main contact for all External Affairs. The Director will also be responsible to align the School’s communication and marketing efforts to support Admissions and Fundraising.

Primary Job Responsibilities
Reports to the Head of School and serves as a “thought leader” with the Head and senior administrative team
Oversees all development, admissions, communications, constituent relations and marketing activities of the school including supervising appropriate personnel in those areas.
Works with the Head of School to create a sustainable advancement team to execute mission
Develops a unified communication and marketing strategy for the school
Leads the Enrollment Task Force and prepares updates to the Board of Trustees
Partners with the Board of Trustees Advancement Committee Chair to set agendas to optimize philanthropy for annual fund, and possible capital campaigns
Strategically builds the culture of philanthropy with all constituents and works with the Board to understand its role
Facilitates team building and meaningful collaboration among Admission, Advancement, and Communication
Meaningfully engages parents and alumni with today’s school; strengthens and renews relationships with alumni and parents of alumni
Manages all major gift solicitations and caseloads
Forms deep working relationship with the Director of Finance and Operations, Associate Head, and Division Leadership.
Serves on the senior administrative team and attends Board meetings
Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Excellent management and interpersonal skills
10 – 15 years of progressively responsible management experience
Proven success with strategic planning and fundraising for a non-profit
Experience with developing and implementing a communications/marketing plan
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Experience with relevant technology systems and applications
Commitment to diversity, equity and social justice
Strong organizational skills
Bachelors degree required and master’s degree preferred
Ability to use discretion and to handle confidential matters
Position requires the physical and sensory abilities necessary to work in a school office environment, sitting at a desk/working on a computer for an extended period of time, and being able to move around the building and grounds and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs. Employee must have a valid Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver's license.
