Friends Select is searching for an upper school dean of students.
The dean of students reports directly to the upper school director. The dean of students has oversight of student engagement in co-curricular programs.
Integrate and model Quaker values and principles in the daily life of the upper school, and promote the values of diversity;
Share responsibility in designing and implementing student-focused policies and practices in the upper school;
Articulate the community’s expectations concerning student behavior and oversee the discipline system in the upper school;
Coordinate the program of co-curricular activities (clubs, performances, trips) and club sponsors; oversee student government;
Oversee the following:
locker assignments and seating charts
US devotion, assemblies and special programs
events and trips specific to each grade
fire drill and other safety procedures
class-specific fundraisers; class budgets;
Document communication with students, parents and faculty, as needed; supervise process and communication of social probation and other areas of student status;
Oversee the service program;
Administer appropriate sections of the budget;
Assist US director in coordination of international policies and programs; assist with implementation of guardianship policy;
With US director, coordinate opening of school for students and faculty;
Teach one section in upper school; on non-teaching years, special projects will be discussed and decided in consultation with the director;
Review and publish student/parent handbook annually.
